Despacito is a song from 2017 made by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It became the top popular streamed song in the world within the space of six months. The song was a mix of reggaeton and pop which not only brought attention to Latin Music but as well reggaeton. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs which were Spanish generally, and four tracks in the year 2016. During the height of Despacito's popularity in 2017, however, 19 mostly Spanish tracks made the top 100 In 2020, there were 41 songs. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with an English version in the year 2017 and soon after popular artists began working with reggaeton artists. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018), while Madonna was a part of Medellin together with Maluma (2019). In 2020, a few Reggaeton performers were expressing displeasure about the advancing of the genre toward the mainstream. Yet, a young generation such as Rauw Alejandro was determined to continue the evolution. The incorporation of elements from electronic dance music, and different styles was an accepted practice.
